Description: SUNKEN MEADOW STATE PARK (Joint bird walk with NSAS)
No carpooling for this walk.
We will check the LI Sound from the boardwalk for gulls, lingering terns, and shorebirds, the dump area (can attract birds), the field 2 grassland areas for sparrows, and then take the hidden winding trail up Sunken Meadow Creek for other birds such as Great and Snowy Egret and Great Blue Heron, Belted Kingfisher, migrating warblers, vireos, flycatchers, and thrushes, sparrows, raptors, assorted woodpeckers, Red and White breasted nuthatches, and resident birds. Sunken Meadow Parkway. Meet at main parking lot – Field #1.
