Second Wednesday Bird Walk

Where: West Meadow Beach, Trustees Rd, Stony Brook, NY 11790, USA (map)

Description: Enjoy a weekday walk at West Meadow Beach.  We will bird both sides along Trustees Road, occasionally taking brief detours to explore within the maritime shrubs and trees and the West Meadow Creek. We’ll look for birds such as Yellow-rumped Warblers, Cedar Waxwings, winter finches and sparrows, and year-round resident species.  We’ll search the Sound and shoreline during our return walk looking out for winter shorebirds: Sanderling and Dunlin, and winter ducks, loons, and other water birds.

Meet in the parking lot near the kiosk at the entrance to Trustees Road.  Walks are about 2 miles and will last about 2 hours.  Bring water and a snack, hand warmers. Inclement weather cancels the walk.  If the walk is canceled, an email will be sent out to those who have registered, and a notice will be posted on the 4HAS Facebook page.
